What ever happened, you must first recognize you were both at fault. If you were the one who cheated, he was not giving you what you needed, so you went elsewhere. If he cheated on you, you were not giving him what he needed. Yes, the cheater is morally wrong for cheating. The person who was cheated on does not bear the moral responsibility. However the fault lies with both parties.

With that said, it is important to forgive and forget. With true forgiveness comes letting go of all the anger related to the incident. Never bring it up again. You should not let it cloud the relationship. If you won’t do this, you may not get your guy back anytime.

If you were the person at fault, apologize – and mean it. Too many times, after people say “I’m sorry,” there’s an “Oops I did it again,” moment. You’re not Britney Spears. It’s not cute.
